PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAM
PRE-SCHOOL TWOS
The Brook Academy’s Pre-School Twos Program is designed for children age 2 years to 3 years old. The program provides a curriculum that begins instruction about letters, numbers, days of the week, months of the year, seasons, social skills, art and gym. Our Pre-School classrooms are set up in centers to foster educational activities, circle time, imaginative play, creative art, music centers, library, manipulatives and social activities.
Our teachers work with your child on the following objectives, as applicable:
• Identifying the letters of the alphabet and the sound each makes (phonics).
• Speaking in three or four word sentences, answering questions effectively, expressing needs and feelings with words.
• Identifying basic colors and shapes.
• Identifying numbers one through ten.
• Understanding the days of the week, months of the year, seasons.
• Painting, coloring, markers, pencils, stamping, gluing, cutting.
• Following directions, cooperating with others, turn taking.
• Appropriate imaginative play.
• Appropriate listening and responding to questions.
• Coping strategies for emotions, alternatives to tantrums.
• Using music as an emotional outlet.
• Problem solving, matching and sorting.
• Improving gross motor skills and understanding the value of exercise.
• Roll, throw, catch and kick a ball.
• Putting things back where you found them and cleaning up after yourself.
PRE-SCHOOL THREES
The Brook Academy’s Pre-School Threes Program is designed for children age 3 years to 4 years old. The program provides a curriculum that builds on the Pre-school Twos instruction and teaches letters and beginning reading, numbers and basic math, speaking in complete sentences and holding conversations, social skills, art and gym. Our Pre-School classrooms are set up in centers to foster educational activities, circle time, imaginative play, creative art, music centers, library, manipulatives and social activities.
Our teachers work with your child on the following objectives, as applicable:
• Identifying letters and letter sounds (phonics), sight words and pre-reading.
• Speaking in complete sentences, answering questions effectively, expressing needs and feelings with words.
• Identifying colors and shapes.
• Identifying numbers, addition, subtraction.
• Understanding the days of the week, months of the year, seasons.
• Painting, coloring, markers, pencils, stamping, gluing, cutting.
• Following directions, cooperating with others, turn taking.
• Appropriate imaginative play.
• Appropriate explaining, story telling, responding to questions.
• Coping strategies for emotions, alternatives to tantrums.
• Using music as an emotional outlet.
• Problem solving, sequencing, categorizing by physical and conceptual features.
• Improving gross motor skills and understanding the value of exercise.
• Using a computer and mouse.
• Roll, throw, catch and kick a ball, play ball games with others.
